The Assassins’ Masquerade Ball is back, co-organized with Eteläsuomalainen osakunta! Welcome to celebrate with us to Hämäläisten talo (Urho Kekkosen katu 4-6 D) on Saturday, November 21st 2026 at 5 p.m.
You may attend in a complete masquerade costume, or in an informal evening dress and a mask, or in anything in between. Separate indoors shoes / dancing shoes are strongly recommended. This year’s playlist is full of 80s hits, and as always there will be a murder mystery. Anyone can join to investigate the horrific incident by following the clues and questioning the suspects. In the end the mystery unfolds and the best detectives will be awarded.
This mystery is set in 1980s Helsinki—amidst yuppies, the Cold War, and the euphoria of the economic boom. On the afternoon of Saturday, November 21, 1986, a highly favorable cooperation agreement between magnate Röttönen and the East German embassy was celebrated. After the official ceremony, young Miss Röttönen organized a party, inviting young people and the city’s elite. When you arrive, hoping to dance to disco music, you are met with a shocking tragedy. Mr. Virtanen, the Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has fallen out of a window onto the street with fatal consequences. Some whisper about espionage; others say the poor fellow was simply too drunk. The speakers blare: “Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight.”
Tickets cost 5e and sales start on Monday 2.11. at 1 p.m. (https://kide.app/events/79d65026-13d0-4b8a-876b-7195527ff983) There are also some tickets for sale at the doors. Wearing a carnival mask is obligatory, but you can also buy one from the entrance. Everyone is warmly welcome, but please bring your student card or some other ID with you.
